Drew Magyar, Fantasy Football Staff Writer

Preseason Illusions
Ed Bonfanti, Fantasy Football Staff Writer
Aug 31, 2011 |

 |
| Every preseason brings about fake heroes, bolstered by huge stats against second stringers and during meaningless games. This year’s preseason heroes could end up ruining many owners’ seasons if they take the bait. |

Shooting for two Quarterbacks
Curt Kestila, Fantasy Football Staff Writer
Aug 30, 2011 |
 |
 |
| Sometimes you may draft one of the top quarterbacks, other times you may want to wait and draft a quarterback later. Here is a drafting strategy that can make it seem like you have a top-tier quarterback playing for your team, without actually drafting one. |

IDP CHUTES AND LADDERS: Over and Under-Valued Linebackers
Gary Davenport, Fantasy Football Senior Staff Writer
Aug 30, 2011 |
 |
 |
| Linebackers are to Individual Defensive Players (IDP) leagues what running backs are to “standard” fantasy football leagues; the cornerstones of building a championship-caliber roster, and they usually dominate the early individual defensive player selections. Choose wisely, and find that diamond in the rough a bit later in your draft, and it can give you the edge that will propel you to a title. However, choose poorly, reach for a linebacker that falls flat on game day, and you could be left holding your junk as other teams make a run at the fantasy playoffs. |

He Did What?
Keith Jordan, Fantasy Football Staff Writer
Aug 29, 2011 |
 |
 |
| They say that the average fantasy football league stays together longer than the average marriage. Whether that is statistically true or just a cute lead in to advertise a fantasy football site, there is a very valuable lesson to be learned. Many competitive leagues have years of history with either all the same owners or many of the same owners. Keep reading to see how knowing the history of your league can help you in the future. |

Rookie Stock Flux
Patrick White, Fantasy Football Staff Writer
Aug 26, 2011 |
 |
 |
| We’re only a few weeks into preseason, but we can already begin to see the writing on the rookie wall. Those of us who draft in rookie only drafts, dynasty leagues or rookie keeper drafts already know what team took who and in what round. Now we can finally see if those teams got away with a steal or Ryan Leafed an early pick. Here is a list of the biggest changes in value since name selections of the 2011 draft, and whether it’s for the good or for the worse. |

A points per game analysis
Curt Kestila, Fantasy Football Staff Writer
Aug 26, 2011 |
 |
 |
| I like taking a look at points per game numbers rather than overall season totals. For fantasy football purposes, when a player goes down and is out two weeks, I know I’m starting someone else until that player is back. Players that play hurt, or have low points per game for a full 16 games, are not players that are going to help me win. |

What To Do With 'Beanie'?
Keith Jordan, Fantasy Football Staff Writer
Aug 23, 2011 |
 |
 |
| Fantasy owners spend countless hours researching split backfields in hopes of uncovering that diamond in the rough. When injuries occur like they did the other night with Ryan Williams, the natural reaction is to jump on the Chris ‘Beanie’ Wells bandwagon and propel him up your rankings. But keep reading before you do, as I warn you to proceed with caution with Wells and your expectations. |

Your defense should be the second-to-last pick in your draft, with the last being your kicker, but it doesn’t have to be like you’re shooting with a blindfold on. Here are some things to think about when making that pick. |

LB Monkey Move Up
Gary Davenport, Fantasy Football Staff Writer
Aug 17, 2011 |
 |
 |
| No position on the defensive side of the ball is more important to Individual Defensive Players (IDP) owners than the 4-3 middle linebacker and 3-4 WILB, the tackle vacuums whose consistent fantasy production is the anchor of many an IDP lineup. As we get closer to the start of the 2011 NFL season no fewer than a dozen teams are making a change at these positions, and these changes will have a significant impact on the IDP value of the players involved. How have all the linebacker transactions around the league affected their IDP status for the 2011 season? Read on. |

Fantasy Intelligence Report: WR Study
Eric Huber, Fantasy Football Staff Writer
Jul 24, 2011 |

 |
| While the whole world continues to chew on the NFL’s flop commissioner and the greedy NFL Players Association and some of their irresponsible members who scored the same on the Wonderlic as most 15-year-olds, I’ve decided to use my sensible palate to munch on something more important. Instead, I’m focusing on how I and so many other fantasy owners can evaluate wide receivers a little more efficiently using key stats in a study I recently conducted. Let’s take a look at what I discovered. |

Pre-CBA QB Rankings
Patrick White, Fantasy Football Staff Writer
Jul 15, 2011 |
 |
 |
| There is seemingly light at the end of the seven-month long tunnel. Robert Kraft and Tom Brady should soon be heading back to (New England) Patriot Place hand-in-hand while Al Davis and Robert Gallery return to the unholy abyss that is (Oakland) Raider nation. The players are rumored to be happy and the owners are rumored to still be billionaires so all is well with the world. The only thing that fantasy football managers have left to do is to wait for the barrage of trades and free agency movement that is soon to come. It’s draft season. Time to rank the players and watch how free agency and trades switch up the spots. Here’s what the Top 15 quarterbacks look like before the craziness occurs. |

2011’s Most Overrated Fantasy Player: Greg Jennings
Ed Bonfanti, Fantasy Football Staff Writer
Jul 15, 2011 |
 |
 |
| Greg Jennings has been one of the best and most reliable receivers for the last three years. His overall numbers speak for themselves. Over the last three years he has 225 catches, 3,677 receiving yards and a grand total of 25 touchdowns. In that three-year span, he’s averaging 75 catches, 1,225 receiving yards and eight touchdowns a year. After last season’s playoffs, Greg Jennings solidified his position as one of fantasy football’s greatest wide receivers. Unfortunately, this year he could be one of fantasy football’s greatest busts. |

The New Free Market
Walter Collazo, Fantasy Football Staff Writer
Jun 29, 2011 |
 |
 |
| Welcome to a late June edition of the Brew Crew Corner. Since my last article the labor talks have gained momentum and I’m optimistic that the season will be saved. One of the reports from the meetings is the new collective bargaining agreement proposal would set free agent requirements to four years instead of the six we had last year. That would put about 450 free agents out in the market. Some of those free agents that were restricted would become unrestricted and allowed to sign with other teams. I took a quick look at some of the free agents that will be available at the quarterback, running back, wide receiver and tight end positions. |

NFL Draft: Pulling you right back in
Eric Huber, Fantasy Football Staff Writer
Apr 28, 2011 |

| It’s been a frustrating few months for fantasy owners and NFL fans alike. NFL icons Drew Brees and Peyton Manning have led Terrell Owens-like whining lawsuits, NFL owners have united to form a barrier sturdier than some of America’s bridges, and commissioner Roger Goodell has had the look of a damsel in distress. Luckily for you though, the NFL Draft is here and is pulling you right back in to sanity. |
